BEACHY HAIR KIT

14th Aug 2017 - Beauty

Beachy hair is one of my all time favourite looks to rock during the Summer months. Not only does it look super cool, it also requires minimal effort (which is probably my favourite thing about it!) Over the past few months I’ve had some comments from you guys asking me which products I use to achieve that effortless ‘surfer babe’ look, so I thought it was about time that I show you which beachy hair products are my faves.

Until a few weeks ago I had never tried any ‘Verb’ products. Over the past few months I’ve heard so many people talking about Verb so I thought it was about time that I give this stuff a try. Verb have tons of different shampoo and conditioner varieties but since I love that ‘beachy hair’ look so much I decided to give their ‘Sea’ shampoo and conditioner a whirl. I’m quite fussy about the kinds of shampoo and conditioner that I use, but I’ve actually ended up falling in love with this stuff! What’s great about their hair products is not only do they do a great job at gently cleansing your hair, but they also work to provide weightless lift (which is something I ALWAYS look for!) and they’re amazing at protecting colour (also something I need). Whenever I’m trying to achieve beachy hair the main thing that I look for is TEXTURE! The Verb Sea shampoo and conditioner have been designed to enhance waves, build volume and create the touchable texture. After using this combo I could really feel the difference in my hair and after drying I could really see it too!

I’m totally obsessed with texturising spray so I just had to give the Verb Sea spray a whirl. One thing that really won me over with this spray is that it’s incredibly light, so it doesn’t leave my hair feeling heavy or crunchy. To use it I just sprayed some of the product from the roots to the tips and gently twisted and twirled my hair around my fingers at the same time. Once I’m finished my hair looks super tousled but also really natural. I’m definitely going to be using Verb products more often!

You might have heard me talk about Sachajuan haircare a billion times and that’s because I’ve literally been using this stuff for years! I pretty much love every single kind of shampoo and conditioner by Sachajuan, but the haircare that I reach for the most during the Summer months is from their ‘Ocean Mist’ range. If you’re new to Sachajuan I urge you to try their stuff as soon as you can because they’re actually one of my favourite haircare brands. The Sachajuan Ocean Mist shampoo and conditioner have a texturising formula, so they’re both great products to use if you’re looking for that surfer babe vibe. Not only that but the products contain vegetable proteins which actually work to create volume and boost limp and lifeless hair. Of course if you want the ultimate beachy hair look then make sure you follow up by using the Ocean Mist Texturising Spray which will help to create even more texture. I usually spritz the Ocean Mist Texturising Spray onto damp hair and then dry it off using a diffuser. If you’re feeling lazy, just spray it onto damp hair and leave it to air dry. Easy!

It wouldn’t be a beachy hair post if I didn’t take a minute to mention Ouai! You’ve probably heard me talking about the Ouai Wave Spray quuuiitte a lot and I’d go as far as to say that it’s actually my favourite wave spray of all time! Although I absolutely love the Verb and Sachajuan sprays, the Ouai Wave Spray is definitely my holy grail when it comes to achieving the beachy look that I love. The formula of this spray contains rice protein, which actually helps to add hold, meaning that your tousled locks stick around all day. I usually spray this stuff more towards the tips of my hair, but as with the other sprays you can add a spritz or two to the roots if you want to create extra volume.

If I know I’m going to be applying the Ouai Wave Spray I’ll usually make sure to use the Ouai Volume Shampoo and Conditioner in the shower. The Volume shampoo and conditioner are ‘body boosting’ products, which means that they give your hair lots of bounce as well as making it look and feel thicker. I love using this trio because I feel like they really transform my natural hair. If hair spray is your thang then make sure you try the Ouai Texturizing Spray! This stuff is literally my saviour on the days when my hair is looking limp or lifeless. A spritz or two of this will guarantee that your beachy look lasts from morning ’til night.

You might not know this about me, but I actually LOVE using mousses on my hair. At the moment I’m totally loving the MoroccanOil ‘Beach Wave’ Mousse as well as the Kerastase ‘Densifique’ Densimorphose Mousse. If you’re not a mousse fan, you probably associate using mousse with that awful crunchy hair feeling that you tend to get if you’re not using the right products. What I love about these mousses is that there’s no sign whatsoever of that crunchy effect, but they really help to make your style last all day. My hair can tend to feel quite lifeless and look quite limp, so I like to use a pump of mousse and work it through from the roots to the tips of my hair to give it some oomph! If you want your beachy style to last literally all day then work some of this through towel-dried hair before you give it a blast with the hairdryer. You’ll be a mousse convert I’m sure!

Let me know if you guys have tried any of these products! I’m dying to know whether you love them just as much as I do! Let me know if there’s any products that you use to create your beachy hair look. I’m keen to know which ones are your faves!

    • Yay so glad you found it useful!! Honestly the Ouai Wave Spray is my holy grail lol!

  • Oooh these are all such lovely products! And I agree – your hair game lately has been ace. I’m quite drawn to clean hair and I love how soft and silky my hair is, but sometimes I just want that unkempt / beachy vibe and I’m with you on going to the Ouai wave spray! That was a pleasant discovery for me this past year. To add a little extra oomph I’ve been going for the IGK texturizing spray which adds some texture without being overly sticky / grimey. I did start using the Not Your Mother’s brand beach babe shampoo/conditioner which help give that little oomph from the get go. 🙂 They’re super affordable and sulfate-free – highly recommend the brand!!
