Back at the beginning of 2016 I published a blog post all about my boyfriend’s current skincare routine (throwback to that post here) and judging from the comments that you guys gave me, it seemed to go down a storm. Now, over a year later, Aslan’s daily regime has shifted and evolved just as mine has, so I thought that now would be a good time to put together a post all about his newly updated routine. Before we start, let me just say that every single one of the products that I’m about to show you can be used by the ladies too. Having introduced Aslan to most of the items now sitting in his bathroom cabinet, I can safely say that I also enjoy using every single one of those products just as much as he does. In fact, I’m actually the reason that Aslan’s Tom Ford fragrances seem to go down at an alarming rate (don’t tell him that though). So while the purpose of this post is to share some tips and tricks about my boyfriend’s skincare routine, I’ve also put it together to tell you guys about some products that I might not have mentioned before on my blogpost. Who knows, it might inspire you to add one or two of them to your own skincare collection!

The Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate is a replenishing nighttime facial oil that is packed with some of nature’s finest ingredients including evening primrose, lavender essential oil and squalane (a botanical lipid which helps to keep skin soft and supple). Every night Aslan applies around 2-3 drops of this oil onto cleansed skin before gently pressing and massaging it into his cheeks, chin and forehead. This stuff is great because a little really does go a long way, it takes him forever to finish one of these bottles! Aslan loves this concentrate because it requires minimal fuss, absorbs extremely quickly and has a light, subtle scent. This stuff has been a permanent fixture in his corner of our bathroom for quite some time and he’s adamant that’s not going to change any time soon. The Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate is Aslan’s holy grail product without a doubt.
Both Aslan and I adore anything by Malin & Goetz; candles, perfumes, lotions & potions, it doesn’t matter what it is, if it’s Malin & Goetz we’re guaranteed to love it. Aslan is a huge fan of deep and warming scents, so the Rum Bar Soap is right up his street. The Malin & Goetz rum soap works to get rid of any dirt and grime without irritating or stripping the skin. This soap usually lives over on Aslan’s side of the shower, but if I do happen to pick it up I always notice how soft my hands and body feel after using it, not only that but it smells absolutely delicious.
The Redken Rough Clay 20 is one of Aslan’s favourite styling clays. It’s so good that I’ve also been known to steal a little bit from time to time (don’t tell him). The formula of this clay has a matte finish and makes creating texture and definition super easy and stress free. A lot of styling clays can tend to feel heavy and greasy, but this stuff is super light so it barely feels like you have any product on at all. Aslan will use a small amount of product and warm it up between his hands before running it through his hair, it gives him a really effortless look that stays all day. I like to use a little bit of clay whenever I fancy rocking a messy look, it gives my tresses a boost of volume and texture that I love!
I take full credit for Aslan’s love for Pai skincare products. Pai has been a favourite skincare brand of mine for quite some time and when Aslan tested out some of my products and ended up almost emptying my supplies, we decided it was time he started his own collection. Aslan’s loves the Instant Calm collection because it has been specifically designed to restore calm and confidence to dry and distressed skin (something we both suffer with!). In Aslan’s stash is the Pai Instant Calm Cleanser, Serum and Day Cream, all of which he uses on a daily basis during his morning and evening routine. Every single one of the ingredients that are used in the Instant Calm collection have been chosen for their soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, meaning that they help to reduce puffiness, redness and dryness. Since using these Pai products, Aslan has really noticed a positive difference in his skin. If you haven’t tried Pai yet, I urge you to add these babies to your skincare collection!
Aslan is just as much of a self-confessed fragrance hoarder as I am and the Neroli Portofino Eau De Parfum by Tom Ford is definitely one of my favourite scents that he wears. This perfume contains notes of Tunisian neroli, Italian bergamot, Sicilian lemon and orange flower. The citrus notes in this fragrance make it feel super fresh and light, while the neroli and bergamot give it a spicy, warming edge. I find it really hard to describe perfumes, especially fragrances like these which have so many different notes and depths, but trust me when I say that this stuff smells incredible! As with most parfums, a little goes a long way, so Aslan only has to use a spritz or two of this stuff and he’ll smell of Neroli Portofino all day. If you’re intrigued by the notes in this fragrance definitely make sure you give it a try, I’m absolutely sure you’ll love it just as much as we do. Neroli Portifino is also available in a bar soap, body oil, body moisturiser, body spray and deodorant stick.
This Eau De Toilette Perfume by Comme De Garcon is one of Aslan’s favourite scents in his fragrance collection. Among the huge array of notes are coffee, teak wood, patchouli, amber and incense. As you might have guessed, this fragrance is very deep, woody and smoky which might not be everyone’s cup of tea but we actually really love it. This fragrance has been formulated to relax the mind and encourage a meditative, calm state. Whenever Aslan wears Incense Kyoto he’s almost guaranteed to be asked what it is that he’s used. He loves this stuff! Every single time he wears this fragrance I ask him what he’s wearing. You’d think I’d learn by now!
Just like me, Aslan is prone to suffering from dry skin, so a good body moisturiser is an essential staple in his skincare collection. The Tom Ford Oud Wood Body Moisturiser not only helps to hydrate and replenish his skin, it also smells absolutely divine! Much like the Incense Kyoto, this product has a gorgeously woody scent due to the blend of luxurious oud wood. I can always tell whenever he’s used this because it leaves a really warm and spicy smell that seems to follow him about all day. This is a really rich cream, so Aslan tends to reach for this moisturiser during the winter months when his skin is slightly dryer than usual. It’s super nourishing and works hard to soothe any rough areas.
This Night Serum by Dr Hauschka is a fairly new addition to Aslan’s skincare routine, but he’s really enjoying it. This serum is ideal for an evening skincare regime because its oil free formula allows the skin to breathe and stimulates its natural renewal process. Its ingredients include apple fruit hydrosol and apple blossom extract which help to support the natural rhythm of the skin, while witch hazel extract gives a glowing and radiant complexion come morning. When using this serum, Aslan will just apply a thin layer of serum to his face and neck after cleansing. It’s super lightweight and exceptionally hydrating, despite its oil free formula. Definitely give this one a go!

I hope you guys enjoyed getting the inside scoop on Aslan’s favourite skincare products. Like me, he loves to switch up the products that he uses every now and then, so if you enjoyed this post then I’d love to put together an updated version in a few months or so. Let me know if your partner uses any of the products that I’ve mentioned in this blog post or if you’ll be encouraging them to give some a whirl!
