8th May 2017 - Beauty

If you’re a regular visitor to my channel or blog you might have seen me upload a huuuuuuuuge drugstore haul video as part of this year’s Spring Trilogy series. Since filming that video I’ve had so many comments from you guys asking me to put together a list of my ‘holy grail’ drugstore products, so that’s why for this post I’m bringing you my ultimate drugstore shopping guide! I decided to split the guide into four sections including skincare, body care, haircare and makeup but if I’ve missed anything it’s probably because I haven’t found a product in that drugstore category that I love just yet. As always I made sure to only include the products that I use and love so I hope that this gives you some drugstore inspiration and helps you to understand which products you might end up falling in love with. Enjoy!

When it comes to drugstore skincare it can be hard to find the right product that works for your skin. My skin is really reactive to certain ingredients and the reason that I’m a bit hesitant when it comes to drugstore brands is because quite often the formulas can contain more fillers and chemicals than some of the higher end skincare products do. Skincare is something that I’m willing to spend a bit more of my money on simply because I like to know that I’m using formulas which contain ingredients that aren’t going to harm my skin in any way. That’s not to say that there aren’t amazing affordable skincare options out there because there are so many gems on the drugstore shelves which I love and use on a regular basis. If you have sensitive skin like me then the products that I’m about to mention will no doubt work just as well for you too.

It’s probably no surprise to you guys that I just HAVE to mention my favourite Garnier Micellar Water first, this stuff is my holy grail and I literally don’t know how I removed my makeup before this Micellar Water came along! The formula is so soothing and gentle on my skin but does an amazing job at getting rid of every scrap of makeup on my face. All I do is soak a cotton pad with the water and wipe it all over my face, eyes and lips (if I’m wearing lipstick). I use the Micellar Water for sensitive skin but they also have different versions which work with dry and combination skin. Another Garnier product that I just HAVE to mention is the Garnier Skin Active Rose Water Botanical Day Cream. I’ve been using this cream for a couple of months now and I absolutely love it. Like I said, it can be quite hard to find natural-based products in the drugstore but this Skin Active Day Cream really hits the nail on the head. The cream itself has a wonderful silky texture which makes it feel totally high end, I also love anything rose-scented so for me this cream is a dream come true.

  • Garnier Skin Active Rose Water Day Cream

    Super nourishing and smells delicious

  • Garnier Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask

Gives your skin a surge of hydration

  • Pixi Glow Tonic

Gives my skin a subtle radiance

  • Avène Gentle Milk Cleanser

    Perfect for sensitive skin

  • Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I simply can't take my makeup off without it!

Onto the body now and first up I just have to talk about the Soap & Glory ‘Clean On Me’ Creamy Shower Gel because this stuff has been a permanent fixture in my bathroom ever since I moved to the UK 7 years ago! This shower gel is my ultimate favourite product to use when I’m in the shower; it’s so creamy and feels super luxurious to apply, not only that but it smells INCREDIBLE. The smell is probably the thing I love the most about it because it brings back so many fond memories of when I first moved to England. The scent is super fruity with its notes of mandarin, peach and strawberry but there’s also a gorgeous creamy fragrance about it thanks to the notes of soft musk and amber. Whenever I’ve used this shower gel my skin feels so soft and silky, I love it!

I love using scrubs on my Sunday night spa nights and for me, this Oil-Infused Nourishing Scrub by Garnier really takes the cake. I never hear anyone talk about this scrub and I have no idea why because it is absolutely incredible! The formula is infused with Argan, Macadamia, Almond and Rose oils which makes this scrub intensely hydrating and nourishing. The scrub is also packed with Cupuaçu seeds which help to gently exfoliate dead skin cells and leave your body feeling silky smooth and looking visibly radiant. If you’re on the market for a new body lotion then definitely give the Aveeno Daily Moisturising Body Lotion a whirl. This lotion is formulated with natural oatmeal which makes it perfect for my sensitive skin, it goes on smoothly, absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling silky soft all day, I love this stuff.

  • Soap & Glory 'Clean On Me' Creamy Clarifying Shower Gel

    The scent is incredible

  • Soap & Glory 'The Scrub Of Your Life' Smoothing Body Scrub

Makes my skin feel baby soft

  • Soap & Glory 'Hand Food' Non-Greasy Hand Cream

Super moisturising and nourishing (smells great too!)

  • Garnier Oil-Infused Nourishing Scrub

    This smells so frickin' good

  • Aveeno Daily Moisturising Body Lotion

    Soothes sensitive skin

Onto my favourite section now – the makeup! You all know by now that there are so many drugstore makeup products out there which I love and you might have noticed that the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation is something that I’ve been talking about for many years. The gel formula gives this foundation a wonderfully flawless finish and means that it glides seamlessly over any dry patches of skin which is great for me. I like to apply this foundation with a damp brush which helps it to blend evenly over my face and gives it a gorgeous, dewy look.

Lately I’ve been super into eyeshadows and the Rimmel Magnif’Eyes Eye Shadow Palette in the shade ‘Keep Calm & Wear Gold’ is one of my all time favourite eyeshadow palettes from the drugstore (as you can probably tell from how dusty it is!) I’ve been taking this palette travelling with me because it’s so compact and contains all the colours that I’ll need to create the perfect everyday makeup look. For a drugstore palette, the shadows are actually really pigmented and super long lasting, they also blend really easily which is perfect for someone like me who likes a more natural, undone kinda look. Since the shadows are so pigmented, I like to tone down my makeup with a subtle, sheer lip and the Revlon Superlustrous Lipsticks are my go-to. The formula is super hydrating, creamy and gives my lips a subtle pop of colour. Revlon lipsticks are definitely my favourite lip products from the drugstore.

  • Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation

I just adore the finish of this formula

  • L'Oreal Paris Glam Bronze Cushion De Soleil

    Perfect for summer

  • Rimmel Magnif'Eyes Eye Shadow Palette

My fave is the 'Keep Calm & Wear Gold' palette

  • Revlon Superlustrous Lipstick

I'm in love with Revlon lipsticks

  • L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Primer Mascara

    Creates super long lashes

Despite what some hair salons might tell me, I’m a big fangirl when it comes to drugstore shampoo and conditioner. I’m constantly being told that drugstore products aren’t good for my hair, but in my opinion, my hair looks better whenever I use my favourite affordable haircare products. The Garnier Ultimate Blends ‘Honey Treasures’ shampoo and conditioner are some of my favourite drugstore haircare products. This particular shampoo and conditioner is targeted towards really damaged hair, so it’s really great for my blonde tresses which can tend to get quite brittle and dry. IT SMELLS AMAZING!

The haircare section of my drugstore guide wouldn’t be complete without mentioning my favourite Batiste dry shampoo; this stuff is my saviour on days when I don’t have the time to jump in the shower or days when my hair is looking a little lack lustre. A spritz of the dry shampoo into the roots of my hair leaves it looking soft, clean and full of life, it also smells super fresh and doesn’t leave me with a powdery residue like some other dry shampoos can. I always have a can of this stuff to hand! Another haircare product that I wouldn’t be without is my trusty old tangle teezer.

  • Garnier 'Honey Treasures' Ultimate Blends Shampoo

Makes my hair feel super soft

  • Garnier 'Honey Treasures' Ultimate Blends Conditioner

    Super duper nourishing

  • Garnier 'Mythic Olive' Ultimate Blends Hair Mask

    This stuff is life changing

  • Tangle Teezer

    Your hair's new bff

  • Batiste Dry Shampoo

A life saver for your hair

So that’s the end of my ultimate drugstore guide, make sure you head over to my YouTube channel to watch the video in full and see what other products made it into my drugstore holy grail! Leave me a comment down below and let me know what your ultimate favourite drugstore products are, I hate the thought of missing out on something really special so I can’t wait to hear your suggestions.

  • Omg yaaaaas Soap & Glory everything!!!! I always used to stock up on their collection when I visited London, but now that I’m living here I am in absolute heaven. The scents are just sooooo goooood! Also agree on the tangle teazer, I’ve been using mine for ages and it gets all the frizzy knots out of my hair! Can really recommend even for curly haired people! x
