9th Nov 2017 - Style

The other week while I was clearing out my wardrobe I noticed that I was missing something. I’ve got a lot of sweaters, a lot of t-shirts and a few silky cami tops, but one thing I didn’t really have to hand was a couple of easy-to-style blouses. I feel like blouses are SUCH a great piece to have in your wardrobe because they’re super easy to dress up or down. They’re the kind of piece that you can throw on with your comfiest jeans or your fave denim skirt and the whole combo becomes more of an ‘outfit’ (if that makes any sense). Over the last couple of weeks I’ve picked up a handful of blouses from the high street and I feel like they’ve really added something chic to my wardrobe and they’ve also encouraged me to spend a little more time planning out my outfits for the week. Inspired by my blouse ‘revelation’ I thought I’d start a mini ‘Style Spotlight’ series on my blog where I focus on a different item of clothing each week. Today I’m kicking things off with BLOUSES!

Until I started piecing this post together I didn’t realise I had such a *thing* for neck ties! I just think this trend is super sophisticated and always looks really chic. I love love LOVE this poppy print cropped blouse with the cute little flared cuffs. I feel like this would look super cute with some leather pants or some high waisted black jeans and a pair of badass boots. I’m also obsessing over that cute little embroidered blouse that I found on ASOS. I think this one has quite a boho vibe about it and I’m totally into that right now. Cuuuute!

I picked up a couple of simple blouses while on my mission and I’m SO glad I did because I feel like they’re so so handy to have. I love the first forest green one because it’s such a classic shape. I like to button mine up to *almost* the top and just have a cute little gold choker peeking out from underneath the collar. I also think these are great to wear unbuttoned over something like a sexy cami tucked into some trousers. The gold detailing on number 4 is super cute and adds something a bit different to an otherwise basic piece.

Statement blouses are great to have in your wardrobe because they make ‘dressing up’ super easy. I have a couple of super structured, statement blouses in my collection now and I think they’re great for those days when you want to look more ‘put together’ without making any effort. I am OBSESSED with this zip up red blouse (this was one of the blouses I actually picked up the other week) not only because it’s my current fave colour (loving that vibrant red) but also because it’s the kind of thing you can throw on, tuck into your jeans and go go GO! I love how this is kinda a mix of sportswear-meets-smartwear. I also picked up the short sleeve white blouse which I’m crazy about. What you can’t see from this pic is that it actually has slits in the sleeves. I like that little detail, it just adds something a bit special!

I hope you guys enjoyed this little post. Let me know if you would like to see more of this kind of thing from me. Maybe I could do a Style Spotlight on coats next time? Let me know what you think and leave me a comment down below!
