SUMMER SKINCARE ESSENTIALS
I’m a huuuuge skincare junkie (no secret there!), so every now and then I like to tell you guys about some of the products that I’m enjoying using during my morning and evening routine. I always like to mix up my skincare with the seasons, so I thought I’d tell you about some of the products that I’m going to be reaching for over the Summer.
First up I’m gonna kick things off by talking about some body skincare that I’ve been loving recently. You’ve probably heard me talk about Aurelia Probiotic Skincare in the past, and lately I’ve been absolutely obsessed with the Aurelia Firm & Replenish Body Serum and the Restorative Cream Body Cleanser. The Body Cleanser is a wonderfully creamy wash which both cleanses and soothes the skin. It’s packed with gorgeous ingredients like Baobab, Hibiscus and Aloe which all help to nourish, protect and heal. Lately I’ve been using this stuff almost every day in the shower; all you do is just lather it onto your wet skin before rinsing it off under the water, it’s gorgeous! After my shower I’ve been reaching for the Aurelia Body Serum which is a super intense, nourishing and lifting treatment. The essential fatty acids, vitamin E and Cocoa Butter within the formula all help to make your skin look and feel firmer, while the scent of essential oils, Mandarin, Lemongrass and Chamomile help to induce a feeling of calm. If you’ve never tried Aurelia Probiotic Skincare then these products are a great place to start. You’ll definitely end up falling in love with the brand.
The first face product that I need to mention is the gorgeous Antipodes Juliet Skin Brightening Cleanser. I’ve mentioned this a number of times across my blog and YouTube channel, but I have to take a minute to talk about it again because I’m actually obsessed with this stuff! The first thing you’ll notice when you use this cleanser is how DELICIOUS it smells! Formulated with kiwi, manuka honey and hibiscus flower, it not only smells good enough to eat, it does a fantastic job at helping you to achieve a clear complexion thanks to the ingredients’ antibacterial and antioxidant powers. The cleanser also contains vinanza grape extract which helps to balance oil production, reduce the appearance of blemishes and ultimately give your skin a natural-looking glow. I’ve been using this stuff for years but over the past few months I’ve found myself falling more and more in love with it. You all know I’m crazy for Antipodes so I urge you to give this one a go!
If you’re on the market for a new face scrub this Summer then I you’ve gotta try the Aveda Botanicals Kinetics Skin Refiner. The Skin Refiner is a creamy, clay-based exfoliating scrub which helps to rid your face of dead skin cells and leave it looking and feeling refreshed. I usually apply something like this around once or twice a week by gently massaging a small amount of the product onto my moist face and neck. It does a great job at deep cleansing the face and unclogging pores. I always feel so refreshed after I’ve used the Skin Refiner.
I LOVE using serums and essences before my daily moisturiser because they really help to provide an added layer of hydration to my skin after cleansing. An essence that I particularly love to use during the Summer time is the Lancôme Énergie de Vie Smoothing & Plumping Pearly Lotion. The reason that I love to use this stuff over the Summer is because it gives my skin a wonderfully natural-looking dewy finish. Formulated with goji berry, lemon balm and vitamin E, this essence leaves my skin feeling instantly plumper, smoother and reawakened. If you’re new to the world of essences make sure you give this one a go, I guarantee you’ll see (and feel) instant results!
A serum that I’ve been loving for years now is the Vinoperfect Radiance Serum by Caudalie. If you have issues with dullness, dryness or uneven skin tone then this is the serum for you; it’s a highly concentrated, oil free formula which helps to improve the appearance of dark spots, promotes even skin tone and boosts radiance.
If like me you suffer with dry and sensitive skin, then you HAVE to try the Healgel Advanced Skin Rescue Formula. Healgel is an advanced skin rescue formula which soothes and repairs stressed skin. What I love the most about this stuff is that it’s sooo kind and gentle on my skin and even helps to banish stubborn scars and eczema. (I’ve tried this cream on my eczema and it helps!!) It reduces irritation, redness and puffiness and helps to speed up the process of skin regeneration. I tend to get a lot of eczema during the Summer because of the heat, so I definitely find myself reaching for this cream A LOT during the warmer months.
If you’ve never heard me mention Tatcha before…WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!? Just kidding…but seriously, I’m literally obsessed with all things Tatcha so of course I had to take a minute to talk about the incredible Tatcha Water Cream. The Water Cream is one of the best moisturisers I’ve ever used; it’s amazing at battling dryness, reducing the appearance of pores and achieving and even skin tone. The cream is packed with powerful Japanese botanicals such as wild rose, leopard lily, green tea, rice and algae. Not only that but within the formula there’s also a tiny touch of 23-karat gold (yes, GOLD!) which helps to give your skin a subtle, shine-free glow. This is one of the more luxurious moisturisers in my bathroom and I LOVE it.
Something that I just HAD to include in my list of summer skincare essentials is the Giorgio Armani Maestro UV Skin Defence Primer SPF 50. I’ve spoken about this primer soooo many times and that’s because I absolutely adore this stuff! The Skin Defence Primer is so great because it’s suitable for sensitive skin, can be worn alone or under makeup, and as the SPF would suggest, does a fab job at protecting your skin from the sun. The Maestro UV is incredibly silky and soft to apply and feels wonderfully lightweight under foundation. I tend to reach for this primer all year round, but it’s especially great to use during the summer months.
Onto the masks now (my fave bit) and first up I just have to talk about the incredible Peel & Polish by Pixi. The Peel & Polish is a gentle, skin refining treatment which eliminates dead skin cells and boosts circulation. The formula is jam packed with lactic acid, enzymes and sugar extracts which all help to dissolve dead cells on the face and reveal a super radiant complexion. This is a really great product to use if you need a little bit of glow to bring your face to life.
Most of you will know that I’m completely obsessed with anything rose-scented (shoutout to my fave Fresh Rose Face Mask) so this Express Flower Gel Mask by Sisley is a dream come true. With extracts of rose, iris and white lily, this mask smells INCREDIBLE. Not only that, but the flower extracts and organic sesame within the formula help to give dull and tired skin an intense surge of moisture which leaves it looking glowing and feeling refreshed. What I like about the Flower Gel Mask is that it actually soaks into your skin, so you don’t have to rinse off the product with a wet towel; just tissue off the excess and you’re good to go. Stress-free, just how I like it!
You’ve all heard me talk about the Fresh Rose Face Mask a billion times, so today I thought I’d take a minute to talk about another of my favourite face masks by Fresh – the Vitamin Nectar Vibrancy Boosting Mask. This is an instant glow face mask which leaves the skin which a healthy looking, natural radiance and a super dreamy smooth texture. 50% of the formula is jam packed with REAL crushed citrus fruits (you can imagine how incredible it smells) including oranges, lemons and clementines which all help to gently refine and smooth the skin. Although it looks like a jelly, the formula is actually paste which exfoliates and works to revitalise dull-looking skin. The Fresh Rose Face Mask will always be my ultimate favourite, but the Vitamin Nectar Mask is a very close second!
The last product on my list of summer skincare essentials is the Tata Harper Clarifying Mask. I know I’ve spoken about this a TON lately but I just had to mention it again because I’ve literally been obsessed with this mask over the last few months. In case you haven’t heard me talk about it, the Tata Harper Clarifying Mask is a 100% natural, anti-inflammatory cleansing mask. Specifically targeted for those who suffer with problematic or blemish prone skin (although all skin types can use it) the Clarifying Mask helps to eliminate redness, calm breakouts, reduce the appearance of pores and regulate oil production. I wouldn’t say that my skin is particularly problematic (just dry and sensitive!) but I love using this mask whenever I feel like it needs a deep cleanse; it really helps to banish any dirt and grime from my pores and leaves my face feeling incredibly soft and clean from within. This is a great all-rounder kinda product so I would definitely recommend adding a tub of the Tata Harper Clarifying Mask to your skincare collection.
